The Lower Altamaha Historical Society had a packed house of 52 merrymakers at their 44th Annual Holiday Party, held last Thursday at the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall in Daren. The local Historical Society, with a roll of 243 members, meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Fort King George State Historic Site to hear authorities in the history, archaeology and ecology of McIntosh County and Coastal Georgia. Non-members are cordially invited to attend the monthly meetings. The Society’s Mission is to preserve and disseminate the history of McIntosh County.
